A retired couple moved into a new home with a dedicated theater room, but found to their dismay that when watching movies in their new theater, the dialogue was incomprehensible. What could be wrong? It sounded fine when watching regular broadcast programs.
After having called on several other home theater specialists, and spending several hundred dollars to no avail, they found StereoMan. It took ten minutes to diagnose the problem, maybe twenty to explain it to the customer: their home theater receiver had a defective decoder, and was scrambling the center channel signal – where almost all of the dialogue comes from. StereoMan explained the pro’s and con’s of repair versus replacement and the customer opted to replace.
A week later, the new receiver was installed and calibrated for the theater room. As an added bonus, StereoMan brought along a Blu Ray player, suspecting that the wi-fi signal might not be as weak as they thought it was. He was right, and so he finished the job with a properly working receiver, clear dialogue, and internet streaming to boot!
Here’s what the customer had to say about StereoMan’s work:
We?ve really been enjoying our media room since you performed your magic. The sound (formerly so awful) now is just perfect, so easy to hear and understand. After all the work we had done, and after all the many ?experts? trying to fix things, we?re both so glad we finally found you.
“You really have a fine talent, and you use it well.
This has been the Year of the Mercedes for StereoMan – five so far! And though each has been challenging in some way, all have come out well. Today’s ML350 was no exception.
The customer had done some preliminary research and was told that an aftermarket radio “wouldn’t work”, so he called StereoMan to see if that was true. Apparently it was. A lot of modifications would have to be made, both in fit and wiring, so the customer was given a $200+ estimate, which he approved. As it turned out, the job went super smoothly and came out super nice. Final charge was $104, parts and labor. Customer gave me permission to post this email:
We have a 2003 Mercedes ML350, that the radio finally died. Well in checking for replacement radios…there was NOTHING that would replace the stock unit. I called “StereoMan” and his knowledge about the audio systems was impressive. Steve also could not find any product to replace my radio…but after research, advised me of radios that he found that he could custom fit to my car.
I ordered one of the radios and had Steve install the unit. The final product looks better than the original! His charge for the install was even lower because he said he didn’t run into any problems. Quality work from a very honest man. I highly recommend Steve for any audio work/problem you may have. He worked magic for us!
StereoMan installed a complete home theater in an 8×10 room, with 5.1 channel Marantz receiver, Sony blu-ray and 32 inch LED TV, and a Charter cable box all nestled in a 30x30x16 inch bookshelf, plus 5 speakers and subwoofer. Customer was quite pleased, as the note attests.
